Have you ever wondered what it takes to become a pilot? Have you ever wanted to experience first-hand what is involved in flying an aircraft? Are you stuck for ideas for a birthday present or a different gift? If you have answered yes, then an introductory lesson is the first place to start. We have options available from 30, 45, and 60 minutes. Book an introductory lesson for that special person.
What is included?
You will meet with your flight instructor, where you will receive a pre-flight briefing covering what your introductory flight consists of and also a safety briefing. Once you take-off, you will be listening for those magic words “You have control”, at which point you are in command of the aircraft. You will be taught how to use the aircraft’s basic controls. If you decide to carry on with training for your Private Pilot’s Licence, the introductory lesson will be credited towards the required course hours.
The most variable British issue. We need good visibility for you to get the full benefit of your flight. We can have a clear, bright day, but a strong wind causes turbulence in the lower layers. Please ring us about an hour before your lesson, to make sure that the weather is cooperating for your flight.
On the day
On arrival, turn right and park in the short stay carpark (P1), Aviation South West is directly opposite. You will be asked to sign a temporary membership form to cover your flight, and any passengers that are present.
If you are over 14 stone (196lbs), it is not possible to take you in a 2 seater aircraft, and we will willingly upgrade you to a 4 seater. Our maximum weight limit for a 4 seater is 30 stone (420lbs) passenger total. There is a £49 surcharge per spectating passenger.
