Have you ever wondered what it takes to become a pilot? Have you ever wanted to experience first-hand what is involved in flying an aircraft? Are you stuck for ideas for a birthday present or a different gift? If you have answered yes, then a flight experience is the first place to start.
We have options available from 30, 45, and 60 minutes. We will send a voucher out to you that will be valid for 6 months – please call us to arrange your flight experience for a date before the voucher’s expiry.
Our flight experiences are available all week round, subject to availability, and can be booked for either the morning or afternoon.
What is included?
You will meet with your flight instructor, where you will receive a pre-flight briefing covering the key elements of your flight, together with a safety briefing. Once you take-off, you will be listening for those magic words “You have control”, at which point you are in control of the aircraft. You will be taught how to use the aircraft’s basic controls.
Weather
The most variable British issue! We need good visibility for you to get maximum benefit from your flight, whilst on a clear, bright day, strong winds can cause turbulence in the lower layers.
Please ring us about an hour before your flight, or just before you set off if earlier, to make sure that the weather is suitable.
Passengers
You can bring 1 extra passenger with you for a £15 surcharge subject to the aircraft’s maximum weight limit of 25 stone (350lbs) and the instructor’s discretion. The minimum age of all participants is 10 years old.
On the day
Provided the weather is suitable for your flight, please aim to arrive about 15 minutes before your booking time. You can either park in Exeter Airport’s short stay car park (P1) or park at the nearby industrial estate for free which is a 10 minute walk. Aviation South West are located at Airport House, next to Car Park 2 to the left of the airport terminal. On arrival, you and an additional passenger if applicable will be asked to sign a temporary membership form to cover your flight before your experience begins.
